Man Wearing Teletubby Costume Breaks Into Home, Steals Chinese Food
Bethlehem police said a Lehigh University student's apparent craving for Chinese food while dressed in a Teletubby outfit has landed him in hot water.
Terez Sharek Owens, 20, who lives in the 400 block of Birkel Avenue, was charged Wednesday with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. Police said Owens attends Lehigh University and was involved in an incident Sunday with other students.
Police said while wearing a yellow Teletubby costume, Owens broke into a home in the 200 block of East Fourth Street and stole Chinese food from the refrigerator.
Police said just before 2 a.m., they were called by several students living at the home. They told police that someone had broken the glass on their rear door and entered the home.
The victims told police the man took Chinese food from the refrigerator and put it into a black purse he was carrying. Police said the man had cut his hand on the broken glass and blood had dripped throughout the home.
Owens was also banging on several doors and had left before officers arrived.
