Vancouver Park Board approves 'Dude Chilling Park'
Feb. 4, 2014
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- After a “Dude Chilling Park” sign was erected in Guelph Park in East Vancouver, the Vancouver Park Board has approved a plan to make the sign a permanent fixture.
During a vote on Monday night, the Vancouver Park Board approved the sign after more than 1,500 residents signed a petition in favor of keeping it.
Steven Bohus of Residents Association of Mount Pleasant claims that his organization was not consulted about the matter.
“A lot of the residents feel that this isn’t a game," Bohus said. "There is a school there, there’s a parents’ advisory committee, and I don’t this is a joke.”
According to Vancouver Park Board Commissioner Trevor Loke, only eight percent of residents disapproved of the sign.
