News: Police Called To Domestic Disturbance Find Young Couple Building Ikea Furniture

Ikea: Swedish for "loud banging and tears."
Police called to domestic disturbance find young couple building Ikea furniture

Police in western Sweden were called to an apartment after neighbours complained of hearing loud banging and crying in the early hours of the morning.

When they arrived, the detectives discovered the young couple was just trying to assemble flatpack furniture they'd bought from Ikea.

It wasn't just the Allen key causing all the misery --- the pair had a newborn baby who was doing most of the screaming, The Local reports, via Sweden's Expressen newspaper.

The child was apparently awoken by the banging being made as its parents assembled their furniture.

  1. Having recently furnished my daughter's first apartment with Ikea, I can completely sympathize. It's still funny as f*ck. "Start the car!! Start the car!!" Ikea has the best ads.

  2. Ahahaha! Assembles in minutes--but they don't tell you how many! :-)

  3. So many of their instructions are pictures only -- no words. It makes for an interesting assembly experience! I once put together an armoire with instructions that must have been originally written in Chinese, translated into Farsi, and then into English. I'm surprised my neighbors didn't call the police. It was brutal. "Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!"
