News Of The Day: Cow Escapes From Meat Plant, Heads To Sonic

Cows: not very bright. The last sentence in the article is my favorite.

From NBC Action News and T-Nova.

Cow escapes from Blue Springs meat market, winds up at Sonic restaurant

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - A cow awaiting processing at a Blue Springs meat market briefly delayed his fate Sunday by escaping over a fence and wandering around fast food parking lots.

Blue Springs Police dispatchers say the cow was spotted in the area of NW Mock Avenue and Missouri Highway 7 Sunday afternoon approaching Interstate 70 from the south.

NBC Action News viewer Steve Jorgensen sent in a photo of the cow in the parking lot at the Sonic restaurant at 515 NE Coronado Drive. An employee at the Sonic said the cow came right into the parking lot before walking to the Planet Sub parking lot.

Police feared the cow would eventually make its way on the interstate and put it down. Police then took the cow back to the Winter Meat Processing Plant at 110 NW 12th St., about a mile-and-a-half away from the restaurants.

A manager at the meat processing plant said the cow had been returned and was being “processed.”

  1. Poor cow. All he wanted was a Cherry Limeade.

  2. Poor cow. She probably just wanted to take a little vacation--you know have a day off from the routine, get out and see some sights--but no such luck. It was right back to the old grind for her.

  3. I feel sorry for the little heifer too. I imagine it was quite scary for her being in all the traffic. Then to be captured then eaten... That's a bad day!

  8. That is a little cow that deserved to live her days out in a green pasture. I find it rather sad that after the great escape, her fate was sonic after all.

  10. Why do they call it "processing"? If people can't handle the fact that animals are butchered for their meat, people shouldn't eat it.
