My Top 11 Quotable Movies

I did seven on my Facebook page and missed some good ones, so I must make it 11. These are in no particular order other than Raising Arizona at number one.

"
You're young and you got your health, what you want with a job?"

"Oh, stewardess? I speak jive."

"
That John Denver's full of shit, man."

"What's a-happenin', hot stuff?"

"I was told that I could listen to my radio at a reasonable volume."

"
And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper."

"Mr. Blutarsky. Zero. Point. Zero."

"It's just a flesh wound."

"Eight-year-olds, dude."

"My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

"I reckon I'll have me some of them french fried potaters."

What are yours?

  1. Talladega Knights? No? I can't remember if you hate Will Ferrel or not, though.

  2. "If I didn't have puke-breath, I'd kiss you"

  3. Kris, I don't hate Will. I never saw that movie, though. Always meant to.

    Strange Brew--the Mackenzie brothers?

  4. I agree completely with your list and add:
    O Brother Where Art Thou?
    Steel Magnolias
    My Big Fat Greek Wedding
    My Cousin Vinny
    Breakfast Club
    Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Encino Man (my kids and I watched this a million times when they were growing up)

Any and every Disney movie made after 1988.

  5. Occasionally I'll quote Inigo Montoya saying, "You keep using that word; I do not think it means what you think it means." But I'm surrounded by illiterates and imbeciles.

  6. I'd probably add these:
    Christmas Story
    The Jerk
    Back to the Future
    Young Frankenstein

  7. If you'd dropped by my office today, the language would have been very similar to either "Goodfellas" or "Glengarry Glen Ross"

  8. I use so many quotes I rarely need to engage my own brain.

One of my faves: "Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead."

  9. Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension. An obscure little movie from the 80s starring a pre-Robocop Peter Weller and John Lithgow. Full of great quotes.

"Character is what you are in the dark."

  10. "English, motherfucker, do you speak it?!?!?"

My husband and I quote Pulp Fiction on a daily basis.

I'm always quoting Steel Magnolias and Dirty Dancing and other 80s girl movies. Oh, and Gone with the Wind.

The other day at work someone made a mistake and since it was fresh in my head, "Oooooohhhhh fuuuuuuuudge....." "only I didn't say 'fudge'".

  13. Pinka hit it. Raising Arizona was correct as the first choice, but you got the wrong quote. It should have been, "Son, you got a panty on your head"

  14. So, my assistant is a walking encyclopedia of movie quotes. Lately, if I ask him why about anything, he'll say, "I do what I want whenever I want, you little Spanish fruit topping." - Anger Management. It makes me chuckle.

  17. Thirded on "Raising Arizona" as #1, but I humbly submit THIS as the best quote.
