Classic Commercial Of The Day: DP

Like it was yesterday.

David Naughton never really peaked as a movie star. His most prominent role, of course, was in John Landis' An American Werewolf In London. He did other movies and some sitcoms, but nothing terribly notable, unless you count "My Sister Sam," which was only notable for the murder of cast member Rebecca Schaeffer by an obsessed fan.

Want to feel old? David Naughton is 60 now.

  1. He also was in "Makin' It" (1979, I think) -- the TV show flopped but he sang the theme and it was a minor hit.

  2. This commercial is from 1977--the year I graduated from high school. No, I don't feel old at all. (cough)

I remember the jingle clearly, of course. I remember watching "My Sister Sam" too. I have never liked the taste of Dr. Pepper, but I always sang along to all of these commercials. They looked like they were having so much fun singing and dancing down the street like that.

  3. I wonder if he ever did a follow-up: "Not Makin' It"?

  4. I certainly remember his nude scene in "American Werewolf in London." I saw that movie in a creepy old theater in Jackson, TN and it scared the crap out of me. Especially the scene where Griffin Dunne's face starts falling off.

  5. Hahaha! That one came a little later. Probably when he hit his 50's. :-D

  6. I remember he was in the movie Midnight Madness from 1980, I think. FLounder (of Animal House) & Michael J Fox (before he was anybody) were in it. At the time I thought it was really funny, probably cuz I was 12 when I finally saw it. I have no idea how it would translate now, but it was entertaining then!

  7. Love American Werewolf in London. Been to some pubs just as warm and friendly as The Slaughtered Lamb.

  8. Stay off the moors.

Of course, had they read The Hound Of The Baskervilles, they would have known this already, no?

  9. Cary: Can you post the Noxema shaving cream commercial with Broadway Joe and poor departed Farrah? I think your readers will enjoy it (and talk about feeling old...how old IS Joe Namath, anyway?).
