22 Fictional Characters Whose Names You Don't Know

A great list from Mike Fourth and Mental Floss.

You know the characters, but you might not know their full names. Store these away for future trivia nights.

Barbie’s full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. (Ken’s last name is Carson.)

Cap’n Crunch’s full name is Captain Horatio Magellan Crunch.

Snuffleupagus has a first name—Aloysius.

In the Peanuts comic strip, Peppermint Patty’s real name is Patricia Reichardt.

The real name of Monopoly mascot Rich Uncle Pennybags is Milburn Pennybags.

On Night Court, Nostradamus Shannon was better known as Bull.

Sesame Street’s resident game show host Guy Smiley was using a pseudonym all these years. He was born Bernie Liederkrantz.

On Gilligan’s Island, Jonas Grumby was simply called The Skipper.

The patient in the classic game Operation is Cavity Sam.

See the rest at Mental Floss.

  1. I knew Snuffleupagus, and I knew the Skipper's first name but not his last.

    "Cavity Sam" hahaha! :-)

  2. I don't think Cavity Sam was born with that name. I'm waiting for a future list to tell us his real name.

  3. And the Professor was Roy Hinkley. Poor old sad sap Gilligan didn't get a last name. (we were big on all things GI in my house).

Trivia - Snuffleupagus was originally invisible to everyone but Big Bird. Then somebody at Sesame Street thought this was a bad example to kids who felt adults might not believe them about being abused, to see Big Bird not believed about what all the audience could see was going on.

  4. Boy, that's some dark history on ol' Snuffy. I remember when the first introduced him and he was always conveniently gone when anyone else was around. I honestly didn't know he is now visible to everyone..

Didn't the original Gordon go to prison?

Well, one long stay in prison later....
