Cause Of The Day: CFF

If you can, please help FOLOTD Stacie (she of Stacie's Madness) who is walking 800 or so miles this weekend to raise money for cystic fibrosis, and is very close to her goal. Every little bit helps. Do it for Johnny. Thanks. (link at bottom)

What Is Cystic Fibrosis?

Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:

  • clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
  • obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.

In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

  1. thank you...i never knew i could be so happy having a pimp in my life.

  2. you'll be helping a great cause on your last days here on earth.

  3. Just trying to earn some last-minute points with the J-Man. Don't want to be left behind.

  4. I just donated! Thanks for doing this. I have a friend who, amazingly, is in her 40s with CF. She is one of the longest surviving people with it. She takes amazing care of herself and has great doctors here in California but I am always aware of what she faces and the reality of it. Thank you.

  5. Thanks, WW. Very nice of you.

  6. Money will be no good to me after all you nice people are raptured (Daisy for sure). I'm in.
