Haha! That was awesome! For a minute there, it looked like Capt. Kirk was going to tear off the monster's mask. I used to love the original Star Trek - cheesy, low-tech sci-fi goodness. MPOTD = so true!
We used to love to laugh and laugh at Star Trek when we were in college. It is so wonderfully campy - everything was funny. Medicinal herbs helped of course.
God, Shatner was such a baby then! That was awesome, BTW. And herbs would definitely help.
You guys mean like St. John's Wort and Echinacea?
The rock hurling bit made me laugh. :D
I like the way Kirk never figured out that he could just out run the thing. But, hey, where's would the entertainment be in that?!
Dude! This one's called "Arena" (episode 18)...it's Kirk vs. the Gorn! This was a GREAT episode! Kirk makes a bomb from a bamboo tube, a handful of sand and sulfur, and some large diamonds. It's AWESOME.The Gorn, btw, was actually a diving suit painted green and a headpiece. The actor who wore it could barely see and nearly sweat himself to death...he also couldn't sit down for hours once he was inside it.I have been and always shall be a Star Trek geek. I was raised on it.
That lizard needs to stop smoking, he's wheezing and coughing an awful lot! Also LOVE the tinfoil on the rocks, had me convinced it was another planet.
BEST! The hissing, silver mesh eyes and styrofoam rocks make it so! :D
Everything about that was excellent, but the noise Lizardboy makes when he gets that rock in the chest was beautiful.
Awesome scene, but this one *may* top it, if only because it features the CLASSIC Star Trek "fight music" (with bonus gong at the 33 second mark!):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rl46Dpy-P4&feature=related
The Gorn. I think I woke up next to that one unfortunate morning in college. And no rocks in sight. Now we know where the Krofft brothers got the idea for sleestaks.
Cary said... Now we know where the Krofft brothers got the idea for sleestaks.Marathon LSD and Marijuana binges that'd make Timothy Leary weep?
Kah RAH TEE Chop! at 22 seconds! Why did The Gorm wuss out at having his (his?) ears boxed, but could take a boulder in the chest, no problemo? I too enjoy the tinfoil on the boulders (back then I guarantee it WAS tinfoil, not ALUMINUM foil...or as the folks across the pond call it, "Aluminium" foil). Drat! Foiled Again! THAT would be a good name for this episode.
I loike the Gorm's fabulous mini dress, too. Tres chic!
