70s Music Video Of The Day: Star

Notice I didn't say "Classic," because it ain't.

This one's for you youngun's who didn't experience the joy of hearing this song on the radio and TV. And Spinderfella, who includes this song in his top five, right after "Jeans On."

I'll give $1 to anyone who makes it through the entire video.

  1. I know the song. Keep your dollar. It's still better than Elton and Kiki, though.

  2. Ugh, I loathe that song. LOATHE.

  3. Well, I like this song. It reminds me of happy times. The "special effects" (and I use that term very loosely) are corny, and maybe the lyrics are, too, but I still like them.

I guess I should be paying YOU a dollar!

  4. I don't even need to watch the video. Just seeing the title made the song pop into my head.

  5. I remember the song and never cared for it. I do miss the sparkly clothes though. :-)

  6. I liked Monica Lewinsky's version better.

You don't have to be a cigar, baby
    To be in my hole.

  7. Thanks for bringing back the memory of the Elton John/Kiki Dee rat-cage-on-the-face-torture song, Frank. It was well into the 90s before that shit was out of my head.

  8. Haha! I don't believe I've heard that version, Cary.

    And was Bill's responding line,
"We don't have to go far, baby
    just give me a blow."?

    ha ha--ewww--so bad. I'm cringing here. :-D

  9. Nice, Daisy.

I was always glad he designated Billy Davis, JR. I'd hate to get him mixed up with Billy Davis, Sr.

Which reminds of the shout-out to another Senior in this video.

  10. Ed Begley--Ha ha ha! Great video, Cary. Did you write the lyrics for that song?

You should post some more of your promo vids on LOTD for the newbies who haven't seen them. You've got some great spoofs tucked away on youtube there. :-)

  11. Thanks, D. I wish I'd written it but no, that one was done by my very talented buddy, Spinderfella. There were several of us who wrote those Eastwood songs, but that particular one was all his.

  12. That was AWESOME! "Strung up by the Skipper" made me spew diet Pepsi. I'm with Daisy, I think you should post them all.

BTW, I can see where Ed Begley, Jr. gets his, um, good looks. Snort.

  13. As much as I wanted that dollar, I only made it to :12 before the cringe started.

  15. I think you guys should go easy on Billy Davis Jr. The director obviously didn't let him use the bathroom before they started shooting.

"OK. I can get through this. Just gotta clench and try to look relaxed at the same time."

  16. Couldn't get through it... Got distracted by spinderfella's superior ballad. Also love to see Daisy playing blue. Well done!
