Dumbass of the Day (video)

Cathy Cruz Marrero was walking along innocently at the mall one day, texting her "friend from church," when a big mean fountain jumped up from out of nowhere and tripped her.

Someone put the mall security camera footage on YouTube so that the people of the internet could laugh at her misfortune... and now she wants to sue the mall.

Be honest, Cathy. You were watching
Justin Bieber videos on your phone again, weren't you?

The actual
ABC News interview has embedding turned off, but this is CBS News Online's somewhat less serious take on ABC's footage.

  1. Well, now the news is she has five felony charges against her, seems like all involving stealing or receiving stolen goods.

Hope it was worth suing because of an inability to keep your hands off your phone.

  2. Texting now has a poster child.

  3. Dumbass, indeed. Oh, she was so embarrassed, but that won't stop her from trying to make some bank off of it. Ugh.

Oh, and LOL @anonymous. Someone needs to make a motivational poster of it.

  4. Lucky for her she only walked into a fountain and not in front of a bus or off a cliff. Unlucky for us, she only walked into a fountain.

  5. Man, I am so sick of hearing about this woman. Had it been me, despite the fact I don't even have a cell phone, I would never have come forward. And I'm sure as hell not clicking on a Justin Bieber link.

  6. This is the first I've heard of the incident. What a pile of crap, and yet another perfect example of how the lowest common denominator is now getting more air time than ever.

  7. If she's so embarrassed, why is she doing a promotional tour? She should sell T-shirts.

  8. The next time I go ass over tits I hope somebody puts it on YouTube so I can get rich going on TV to talk about what an uncoordinated moron I am. My preference would go to Craig Ferguson, but Fallon would also be acceptable.

  9. First I've heard of her, too. Not that any of it surprises me.

  10. Who was the last person to strike it rich after a blooper video on You Tube? The "leave Britney alone" psycho didn't even make it to his 15 minutes.

  11. No one would have ever known who she was without her guest appearance on the morning news. The "intentional infliction of emotional distress" caused by the release of the video by the security officers who recorded it (who can be heard laughing riotously on the tape)is her claim, no judge would rule her distress is reasonable under the circunstances....Fail.

  13. Fortunately her "15 minutes" will run out soon and we can enjoy her stupidity on YouTube forever! With any luck, a judge will slap her with a fine for wasting his/her time...if they do that kind of thing in real life, LOL.
