Classic 80s Music Video Of The Day

Thou shalt not covet thy friend's girl, Mr. Springfield. But good job working the word moot into a rock song. Don't hear that every day. Doesn't really rhyme with cute, but close enough, dawg.

And, as a special bonus, Ricky's follow-up. He couldn't get Jessie's girl, so now he's hanging out under tables and looking up women's skirts.

I really need to do a list of 80s music vids where tables full of dishes are knocked over in slo-mo. I can't think of any at the moment, but I know they're out there.

Bonus #2 - Rick in "Californication." Short but memorable.

  1. I think "Hungry Like the Wolff" had the table shot.

  3. Ah, Rick Springfield. I watched General Hospital just for Dr. Noah Drake. sigh. Maybe Dr. Drake could diagnose that pint/pile of blood thing.

  4. As I've said, there was a time when I would have cheerfully been dragged over 5 miles of broken, colored glass just to masturbate in Rick Springfield's presence. I'm happy to say, after viewing that last clip, that time has passed.

  6. Rachel - indeed he was. As was Kathleen Turner. I keep meaning to get Showtime. HBO sucks.

RGR - getting old sucks, don't it?

  7. For sure Rick Springfield getting old sucks.

  8. The fact that we don't get to watch RGR masturbate in the presence of a recently kidnapped and tied-up Rick Springfield sucks.

  9. Cary, I wouldn't know. You'd have to ask Rick. ;)

  10. I STILL think "Working Class Dog" is one of the best albums I own, and I refuse to recant.

  11. Ah, I hear "Jessie's Girl" and it really takes me back. I would go to my girlfriend's house EVERY SINGLE AFTERNOON after school and we would play that song over and over again on her record player!

  12. He's got classy white shoes with the dark suit there at the 1:04 mark. I remember these songs, but I don't remember being that big of a fan of Springfield's. He's seems to be kind of a possessive chap, wanting to steal his friend's girl in the first clip and lurking about under tables and peering into windows to check up on his girl in the second one.

Just a wild guess here Daisy, but you're probably not a "Twilight" fan then?

Cause it seems Mrs. Meyer cribbed her characters attempts at a love life directly from Rick's discography.

  14. This is true, Cam. I'm not a fan of the vampires.

  15. Melissa, I did EXACTLY the same thing with my friend Marcy...except she had a microphone hooked up to her tape player, and we'd talk during the song: "That's right, Rick, I'd be your girl...I'd love to go out with you...Ignore Jessie's girl, I'm way cuter..."
