Another one from my childhood, although this isn't the exact collection I remember. I think I would've remembered "C.B. Savage."

Oh, man! I remember something similar aired up here. Hate to say it but *ahem* my first EVER 7" single purchased as a kid was "Convoy." At least it wasn't C. B. Savage!
ReplyDeleteLooks like Red Sovine produced nothing but trucker trash tunes.
I don't remember this particular commercial, but quite a few of those songs are quite familiar to me. They played those trucker songs till the grooves wore off, I think, on the country stations my grandma and mom listened to when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteThis IS the exact one I remember from my youth! You found it! I don't recall CB "Thavage", though. I'm sure I never would have noticed how gay that sounded, but at the time in my life I really thought The Village People did well with the ladies.
ReplyDeleteAlso noticed that Ken Burns isn't the first one to use the "Ken Burns Effect" in which a camera pans across a still photo.
ReplyDeleteI recall some lucky kid brought this record to school c1978 for our Christmas party. You can still get it on Amazon.
All those depressing lonesome truckin' songs make me want to drive my rig into the nearest tree (or the nearest lonesome depressed trucker coming the other way)
ReplyDeleteThey found 24 trucking songs? That has to be all there are. Please tell me there's not another collection of these tunes.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness my grandmother skipped this one. She always thought truckers were nasty.
HAHAHA! I don't actually remember this commercial. I'm surprised my (truck driving) father didn't own the album - although my mother probably would've divorced him if he had.
ReplyDeleteI love the baby blue polyester leisure suit the "DJ" is wearing. Stylin'!
