Christmas Classic Of The Day: Scared Of Santa

A rerun from last year. There's also a book, where most of these probably originated (link at bottom of post).

This one's from FOLOTD Bree.

Now here's how you do it, boys and girls. You stare down the old fat man like FOLOTD Blong.

Here are a few from a website called Sketchy Santas (thanks, Lefty and Elisa, for the link). In a couple of these the kids should be scared.

Buy the book and support LOTD:

  2. These are all so funny! It's so nice to have these moments of Christmas joy captured to treasure in the years to come.

Santa came to the Christmas party at the library last night in the children's department on the first floor. Parents were told they could bring their cameras and take pictures of their little ones on Santa's lap.

I work in the adult department on the second floor. We could hear the kids screaming and crying downstairs all evening long. I couldn't wait till it was closing time so I could go home and get away from the noise!! HA HA HA HA! :D

  3. I love that Eazy-E decided to come out as Santa for the kids.

Not only that, the pic with the mom grabbing her kids is classic. It gives a whole new meaning to the song "I Saw Mommmy Kissing Santa Claus" ... guess Mommy is giving lap dances to the fat man these days! (I gotta steal this one!)

  4. can't wait to have kids to traumatize them like this.

  5. My favorites are the kids who not only look scarred for life, but look like they are trying desperately to escape.

My daughter has yet to be subjected to this torture, and when she sees a mall Santa, she has no desire to approach. She's 5 and she believes in Santa, but somehow she worked out for herself that the guys dressed up are fake. Smart kid. :)

  6. I have photos like these - to be fair, I'm pretty sure that one Santa in Southend-on-Sea, England in 1992 was a drifter they'd hired.

  10. Yes, even the cat is scared of Santa! And that one kid is holding an Easter egg? WTF?

I needed this laugh today. Thanks. Love, love, love the last Santa with the cool shades.

  11. That little girl, in the blue jumpsuit, in the kind of old-timey picture, ninth one down?

She's not scared. She's got him by the beard with one hand, and is raising some sort of weapon with the other. She's about to throw down. She's ready to rock.

  12. hillarious! I must have missed last year's version because I'm crying, I'm laughing so hard.

I was terrified of Santa for years as a little girl! I thought that I couldn't lie and say that I'd been a good little girl and then I thought he would spank me for being bad. LOL! Terrified, I tell you!

  14. Even though I see these same ones every year, I always laugh. That older one with the little girl in the green jacket whose hood is obviously being held by her older sister while her brother makes a "yikes!" face kills me every time!

On a personal note, I saw my 14-month-old niece's Santa pic the other day, and I must say I'm disappointed. She really liked him and they gave her time to get comfortable with him before they took the picture. What's that about? Toddlers are supposed to cry their faces off in their Santa pictures - that's the law!

  15. My kids would NEVER sit on Santa's lap...and after looking at those pics, for good reason.

    Funny as hell...thanks, Cary!

  17. OMG...I love this! Some of those kids have good reason to be shrieking! A few of those Santas are really creepy looking... how hard up does a department store have to be to hire some of these dudes?

  18. The temptation to drop kick some of those screaming children must be overwhelming for any Santa who's worked an 8-hour shift. They probably get so tired of hearing mummies going, "He's just a little shy..." whilst the child is beet-red in the face and shrieking for England.

Max has done okay with the Santas, but his smile is always, "Erm...why am I doing this again??"
