Classic Malt Liquor Commercials Of The Day (video)

Lots of familiar faces in these.

From Cajun Willie, who's had a malt liquor or three, I bet.

Someone on YouTube said the woman in this video is Evelyn "Champagne" King, who had some hits in the 70s including "Shame."

And one regular old beer commercial:

  2. Good Lord that's Kevin Kline in a Schlitz Malt Liquor ad.

  3. I remember these, but what's interesting is that I have never, even in the 60s/70s, known anyone to drink malt liquor. Guess that's why they don't make it anymore (or do they?)

  4. Wow. Woodwoman's right - that's totally Kevin Kline. Guess every good actor had a "do whatever pays the bills" period in his career.

  5. This is the best malt liquor commercial ever: It works every time.

Go on with your bad self, Lando Calrissian.

  6. And, that was the late Fred "Rerun" Berry wearing the blue-striped shirt as a member of the dance group The Lockers in the first video.

Who is the dude pitching the King Cobra malt liquor?

  7. Toledo, the King Cobra salesman is Fred Williamson.

The first clip also features Toni "Mickey" Basil, one-hit wonder and noted choreographer/dancer.

  8. That would have been a lot funnier had you put that on the yearbook post.

  9. Yeah, that would've made total sense.

    Thanks for the tip.

  10. I was watching the first video, with the pop & lockers, while my volume was on mute and forgot I was playing English Beat's "Mirror In The Bathroom" before I muted. When I turned the volume back on, I was greeted with a very surreal surprise. It sort of worked, in a dark-side-of-the-moon-while-playing-wizard-of-oz-on-mute sort of way. But, for an embarrassing long period, I thought the pairing was intentional and full of irony.

    Then, I remembered I'm retarded.

  11. Christ, I remember those old Schlitz malt liquor ads with the bull busting into the room like the Kool-Aid man...

  12. Holy cow.....that was the first beer I ever got drunk on and I puked all over my boyfriends Kitchen. When his mom came home, she drove me home and we told her I had a headache.....Boy I sure did the next day....It was a few years before I got drunk again and I still don't like beer much 30+ years later......ahhhh the memories!
