80s Shit Song Of The Day

Yes, 80s. 1982. This is how crappy bands like Wank Chung and Men Without Hats ever got airplay. People were so sick of this kind of pop shite that they'd listen to anything else.

Her eyes frighten me more than the dancers.

I bet some of you still like this tune, don't you?
She's in love with you, boy!

And here's a Melissa Manchester bonus for ya. The clowns actually improve it. That's not something you can say very often.

She is kind of freaky eyed. She also might be a good candidate for the white guy afro list from the other day.

Yes, she should donate some hair to MSOTD guy.

Actually, I sort of feel bad about making fun of MSOTD guy's nose, because — seriously — I imagine it might have gotten broken in some sort of hate crime, if you get my drift.

All right, everybody! Back to making stupid and silly comments!

I have a soft spot for Ole Crazy Eyes. My mother-in-law helped plan my wedding and was in charge of the person that sang during the ceremony. That was the least of my worries, so I gave her carte blanche to pick the songs. In the middle of the ceremony, this woman starts singing, and I hear my maid of honor quietly cackling behind me. She told me later that when she heard the song "Through the Eyes of Love", all she could think of was that it was the theme song to "Ice Castles", the Robby Benson movie about a blind ice skater. Love is grand.

MSOTD may have a crooked nose, but at least his eyebrows are "purty."

Thank you, Liz. It's true.

PS I'm terrified of clowns. HORRIFIED.

Ah, Solid Gold - the choice of a generation hungry for music on TV who did not yet have MTV or even Night Tracks on TBS. The other night I explained how I used to sit through several hours of crappy videos late every Friday and Saturday night in hopes of them playing Duran Duran or something else good. He could barely conceive of a world in which people watched whatever videos were playing on TV instead of finding whatever they wanted online.

I totally wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer when I grew up. Their costumes were totally bitchin'.

What on earth could they have possibly been playing "Don't Cry Out Loud" on the Disney channel??!?? That's funny!! Maybe this was between Handy Manny and Playhouse Disney for all those toddlers watching.

Her eyes are freaky, but what's more disturbing is her overly large, red-shellaqued mouth.

THAT'S scary.
