I learned the bad gift lesson early on. One of the first presents I ever bought my wife was a backpack. We weren't married yet, but we'd just spent a summer working (and hiking) in Yellowstone Park, and she needed a new one. Not quite as bad as a treadmill or a blender, but not exactly romantic. Always the good sport/loving wife, she was happy to get the backpack... but her girlfriends shamed me mercilessly until I agreed never to buy her a gift like that again. And I haven't. Hey, I was 21 years old... what the hell did I know?

My Yahoo Answer Of The Day: Secret Purchases

It was late. I was loopy. I think it was the same night I nearly got shat on -- which would explain it.

Tooters

So my lovely 7yo daughter comes into my office the other night to tell me goodnight.

"Night, Daddy." We hug and kiss.

"Night, night, baby."

Then she gets a sheepish sort of look on her face.

"I have tooters." She'd had a bean quesadilla for dinner.

"Well," I said, "That's ok. Everybody gets tooters." She knows this, though, and isn't typically embarrassed about gas, so the comment puzzles me a little.

"Ok, night night," she says, and leaves. Seconds later, she returns.

"Daddy?"

"Yeah?"

She turns around and lifts up her nightgown.

"What are you----"

"PFFFFRRRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPZZZZZZZZRRRRRRRRRRRT!"

She cuts a huge (and impressive) fart on me, then runs out of the room, giggling hysterically.

That's my girl.
