  1. I guess there's no word for mine... fear of any millipedes and centipedes. I'm fine with all the other insects, just millipedes and centipedes. Fear isn't really a good word, either. I'm thinking abject, mortal terror. Kind of a make-my-5-year-old-kill-it-because-I-can't kind of thing. Pathetic.

  2. How about fear of lists of fears?

But seriously... Not even a complete list as Photophobia (fear of / sensitivity to light) isn't there

  3. I'm absolutely terrified of butterflies, moths and daddy-long-legs. Basically, I hate insects that fly in an erratic pattern. I had one fly down the neck of my dress when I was younger, that sort of thing leaves a mark.

  4. Selachophobia. That's not so crazy though. I mean, SHARKS! Who pals around with those fuckers?

  5. Anon - never said it was. Never do. Few lists are.

  6. What about fear of midgets, my phobia. The only name I can find is lollypopguildaphobia, and as cool as that sounds, I doubt its real.

  7. I'm afraid of people who complain about incomplete lists on LOTD. Seriously. Don't you people have jobs? or names?
I guess that makes me claustramentaphobia - fear of people with small minds.

That, and carnies - small hands. Smell like cabbage.

  8. triskaidekaphobia - fear of the number 13....I am not triskaidekaphobic, I just like to say it, lol!

I used to be ceraunophobic...but not so much....but when the crack of thunder comes from nowhere, when you're in a dead sleep...yeah, I'll be joining you under the bed!

it still creeps me out to think about him though. i'm gonna go and shudder in a corner now...

  12. Feel relieved that fear of clowns is in there. Horrid *uckers. What kid likes a clown? What adult likes a clown for that matter!

  13. Thankfully, my hubby doesn't have Venustraphobia! He does, however, wish I had Vestiphobia.

    And Cacophobia just sounds mean!

Seriously, though, I have a weird phobia of abstract bad things MAYBE happening to me or mine.

  15. Lucy Van Pelt: Are you afraid of responsibility? If you are, then you have hypengyophobia.
Charlie Brown: I don't think that's quite it.
Lucy Van Pelt: How about cats? If you're afraid of cats, you have ailurophasia.
Charlie Brown: Well, sort of, but I'm not sure.
Lucy Van Pelt: Are you afraid of staircases? If you are, then you have climacaphobia. Maybe you have thalassophobia. This is fear of the ocean, or gephyrobia, which is the fear of crossing bridges. Or maybe you have pantophobia. Do you think you have pantophobia?
    Charlie Brown: What's pantophobia?
Lucy Van Pelt: The fear of everything.
    Charlie Brown: THAT'S IT!
[Lucy goes flying out into a field of snow]

  16. Fear of vomiting/seeing/smelling/hearing/thinking about vomit. My palms get sweaty the moment someone says they're nauseous. I quarantine myself if the stomach flu is going around.

  17. Spin - excellent quote. I forgot about that one.

Tracey - thank you. I'm appointing you LOTD Sgt. At Arms. "Carnies... small hands..." classic Austin P.

Another Amy - Lollipopguildophobia... I laughed. Good one.

  18. I'm getting quite claustrophobic as I get older. I'm trying to figure out why so I can fight it off. I think it might have to do with the fact that I'm developing more respiratory problems as the years go by, so I already have a fear of not enough air, being suffocated, etc.

    Great list.

  19. I am afraid of high, open places and also get panicky in small, confined places such as in a crowded elevator. Apparently, I have space issues. :)

    OH NO SPANISH!!!!

  21. Spiders, Spiders, and spiders. Also clowns, carnies, needles, germs, heights, closed in places, bugs, math, public speaking, mother in law, driving by myself to new places, and small children with runny noses.

  22. Right now, I have a morbid fear of President Palin.

  23. Melissa - same here. Never had that problem before. I also cannot ride amusement park rides like I once did without feeling woozy (not a phobia, but another thing that sucks about getting older). I still try, though!

Aries - you said it, brother. But fingers crossed, it's not gonna happen.

  24. Theophobia, the world is full of nutcases in all varieties. **shudder**

  25. What of floccinaucinihilipilificatophobia?

This is the fear of judging things or actions as worthless. I don't suffer from it...

Just a thought: some of the fears are better than their opposites (in moderation). Like necrophobia is better than necrophilia...

  26. I adore the fact that Sesquipedalophobia, fear of long words, is a nice, lengthy word itself. Take that irrational fears! Hehe..
