From Rolling Stone, who actually list their top 50, but Wednesday is half-assed day, so you only get 25. And no commentary, since I only have one of these (Icky Thump) and haven't even heard of half these people. Guess I need to shoebox my Pearl Jam CDs and join the 21st century.

Ok, well I have heard of 14 of them and have 3 of the cd's. I thought I was more up-to-date than that. Perhaps i'll do better in 2008...I hear that Justin Guarini has something on the horizon..LOL.
ReplyDeleteYes, Keva, he does... a new disc called "When Justin Met Obscurity."
ReplyDeleteDon't you dare shoebox Pearl Jam! How could you make such a heinous suggestion?
ReplyDeleteYou are going to make Eddie cry!
I just don't understand the blind following of M.I.A.; talk about way over-hyped. Also, a big shame on Rolling Stone; Lily Allen's record came out in 2006. It would have made my list if it would have come out this year; but it didn't.
ReplyDelete@YouKnow.. Eddie's already crying about how far their star has fallen.
ReplyDelete@Duane.. I feel the same way about Radiohead.
I typically find RS lists pretty awful.
Dude, if you live in Minneapolis, you'd know a few more of these...Arcade Fire and GoGo Bordello have been here several times (Minney has one of those huge douchebag indie rock scenes).
ReplyDeleteI suppose I exaggerate a little when it comes to my musical cluelessness. Still, there are 8 bands here I've never heard of (excluding Arcade Fire - them I know). Just tells me I need to get off this GD blog and look into some new music.
ReplyDeleteIf you're interested in hip hop, Minneapolis' based Rhymesayers indie label is a good place to start.
ReplyDeleteCool, I will check it out. Thx for the tip.
